When the Government announced nationwide lock-down measures on 23rd March 2020, we had the idea to create a radio streaming service to keep our fellow neighbours entertained, supported and informed through the uncertain times and lockdown that lay ahead.

We originally planned to run the service for three months – but the response from our listeners was overwhelming, leading us to develop a full-scale local radio station for Lymm and South Warrington. Welcome the Sound of Cheshire!

Dr Rosie:  Booster Vaccination Update

On Monday 15th November, the Government announced that the UK's Covid booster programme will be extended to over 40's, to top up protection and help limit the spread of the virus over winter.
In addition, the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation also said 16- and 17-year-olds, initially offered only a single dose, should now receive a second.

People aged 40-49 will be boosted with either the Pfizer-BioNTech jab or a half dose of the Moderna vaccine, which still gives a potent immune response.

Booking your booster vaccination

If you are:

  • Aged 50 or older
  • Aged 16 or older, with a health condition that puts you at high risk from Covid-19

And if it has been 5 months since you had your second dose, you can book your booster vaccination on the NHS Website.

You'll be offered appointment dates from 182 days (6 months) after the date of your 2nd dose.

You can also book a booster now if you're a frontline health and social care worker. You are able to book an appointment for a booster dose if it's been at least 182 days (6 months) since your 2nd dose of the vaccine.

If you are aged 40 to 49

All people aged 40 to 49 years old who have not previously been eligible will soon be able to book an appointment for a booster dose using the NHS Website.

We will update the Lymm Radio website with more information when these appointments are available to book. We expect this to be from Monday 22 November 2021.

As an introduction to Mental Health Awareness Week 2021, Juliet talks about Oxytocin - a "happy hormone" that is known to have a positive effect on mood and emotions.

Oxytocin has the power to regulate our emotional responses and pro-social behaviors, including trust, empathy, gazing, positive memories, processing of bonding cues, and positive communication.

Release Oxytocin naturally by connecting with nature - and you will feel better!  Listen to Juliet's presentation on Oxytocin right here.

Juliet has also provided a FREE meditation session that can help with your mental health and wellbeing.  Download it below and enjoy in your own time.

Juliet has very kindly put together a wondeful 10 minute meditation session which will help you to relax and connect with nature.  Set some time just for yourself and find a quiet place where you won't be disturbed.  Turn off your mobile.  Sit or lie back and enjoy your meditation session.  Remember, practice makes perfect!
