page title icon KAREN & JIM SPEERS – A MATCH MADE IN HEAVEN

As part of the Life Stories feature on Lymm Radio, we were delighted to welcome Karen Speers to our morning studio.  Karen is a former student of Lymm Grammar, later joining the teaching staff at Lymm High – and for the last 25 years has been principal of the much loved AT Dance School in Stockton Heath.  Karen told her life-changing story to Phil in the Morning.

Six years ago, Karen’s husband – Jim – took advantage of a free cholesterol test at work.  The results highlighted some early kidney function issues.  Unfortunately, over time this developed into a major health issue for Jim – and the only option was a kidney transplant.

In a rare, and most fortunate twist of fate – it was discovered that Karen was a perfect match for Jim – and without a second thought – she decided to become a living donor, giving Jim a true lifeline.  A match made in heaven!

Two years on, and Karen and Jim entered the renal unit at the Royal Liverpool Hospital for this life-changing surgery.

It was a very interesting and inspiring conversation.  You can listen again right here.
