It was lovely to welcome Emma Turner from Lymm to our morning studio. Emma, an actress from Lymm is one of the main characters of a new pilot sitcom which was filmed locally. You can listen again right here.
The Peculiar Pair is a comedy about two mismatched women over 40 who develop an unlikely friendship. Waynetta (played by Emma) lives alone and suffers from agoraphobia. Joanne (played by Anna Jaskolka) is the opposite. She’s worldly, just out of yet another terrible relationship – and lives in a skip.
The story promises a tale that anyone over the age of 18 can relate to about mental health, homelessness, relationships, sexuality and our need to not live this life alone. English, northern humour is cleverly used to broach these subjects in a non threatening way.
The pilot episode, written by the talented Helen Tunicliffe (Emmerdale) and directed by Alex Wilson-Jones (Loving You, 2013) is currently on the film festival circuit – and if there is enough interest and support from the industry it could become a full series. You can see the pilot at this link. Please be sure to give it a like!
Thanks so much for coming in to see us Emma. Lovely to meet you – keeping fingers crossed you can get this commissioned and already looking forward to episode 2.
