Ian James

Background

Ian has previously presented and produced radio shows for a number of high profile commercial radio groups and the BBC. He was one of the first voices on Marcher Sound Radio when it went on air in 1983. Since that time, he presented mid-mornings on MFM 103.4 (North Wales and Chester), Afternoons on Touch Radio (Cardiff & Newport) – which at the time, was one of the most successful AM (Medium Wave) radio stations in the country. Later, he joined the BBC and worked between Radio Merseyside and Radio Leeds. Whilst at Leeds, he was standby presenter for Graham Liver but is best-remembered as “Doctor Dance” and the Glitterball show, which became the fourth most-downloaded programme on the BBC iPlayer in English Regions.

Alongside working in radio Ian set up a production company, Reactive Audio, with fellow colleague Paul Smith in 2001. Reactive Audio produces radio and TV commercials for a number of clients all over the UK and has won a SONY award for radio production. In 2009, Ian and Paul worked together with good friend and highly talented musician Elio Pace and produced an iconic jingle and sonic brand for Fords of Winsford. You’ll have probably heard (and seen) Ian on hundreds of commercials on TV and radio!

Ian is one of the founders of Lymm Radio and presents various shows including Good Morning Lymm, Mid Morning Mayhem and the Saturday Club.
