This year, the Royal British Legion will be marking 100 years since the nation’s collective Rememberance traditions were first brought together, such as the two minute silence, Armistice Day, the service for the Unknown Warrier – and the poppy appeal.

We were delighted to welcome Linda Monk to our morning studio.  Linda is one of the Poppy Appeal Organisers at the Lymm and District Branch of the Royal British Legion – and this year, is asking for your support to sponsor a lamp post along the A56 for a donation of £10.  All monies raised will go towards supporting the wonderful work provided by the Legion to support and help to our ex-service personnel.

It was lovely to find out more about this important fundraising event and to hear about the efforts of the Lymm and District Branch.  If you are interested in becoming a member of the local branch you can find out more here.  Meetings are held at Lymm Village Hall bi-monthly.

If you would like to sponsor a lamp post Poppy, contact Linda at: for more information.

At 11am on 11th November, Lymm Radio will be joining the nation for a two-minute silence, followed by a special rendition of “Green Fields of France” by Craig Round, of CJ Round Landscapes.
